| Credit Card Processing over the Internet
We understand most concerns with respect to credit card processing
over the Internet and have implemented state-of-the-art handling
of such transactions.
Specifically, the FigWare site uses secure server, strong encryption
technology, and Secure Socket Layers (SSL) to protect your credit
card information. We are confident your credit card will not be
compromised during the transaction.
The vast majority of credit card theft on the Internet occurs not
during the transaction but while "stored" at some location.
The FigWare site does not store your credit card number at any stage
of the processing. Only your bank has the credit card number (and
they have had it all this time, anyway!).
But, there are some things you can do to protect yourself and your
money.
Do not store your credit card number anywhere on your computer.
Specifically, turn OFF the auto-complete feature of Internet Explorer.
IE's auto-complete "feature" saves often used information
in order to ease the entry of such data into a web page. But, it
does this by saving it on your hard drive. In other words you may
have your credit card number stored on your computer, too!
Also, make sure you web browser has the latest security updates
and strongest encryption available. Most vendors have websites to
update their browsers.
Use a good anti-virus program to check for malicious content. Most
modern anti-virus programs come with features that detect and disable
viruses, trojan horse programs, and criminal ActiveX components.
However, anti-virus programs are only as good as the last update
so check frequently for new virus definitions.
